This seminar explores how African American experiences have been shaped, constrained, and traumatized by an economic system that treated us as a means of production. How does the legacy of America’s economic past shape the present-day income and wealth gaps? What roles have Blacks played in the evolution of America’s capitalist system, and how does this influence our approach to entrepreneurship and investment? How can we use the values and institutions of capitalism to dismantle to the legacy of inequitable financial access and distribution moving forward?
